Using a Game Port VPedal for Transcription This page describes how to install the "Game Port" version foot pedal. Before starting, make sure that you have a game port on your PC. The game port is usually found on your PC's sound card. The game port will have 15 pins (female) in two rows. You should also have your Windows installation disk. Your first step should be to shutdown your PC and plug the foot pedal into the game port. Next, restart your PC and go to the Control Panel as illustrated in the picture below.
On the Control Panel, select the "Game Controllers" icon, as in the picture below.
Click on "ADD" to indicate that you want to ADD a device, as indicated in the picture below.
Select the 2-axis, 2 button joystick, as indicated in the picture below. Then press "OK"
The Game Controller screen should now look like the screen below. You may need to Refresh the screen to see the update.
You have now successfully installed the foot pedal. You must now enable support for foot pedals. Go to View => Options => Foot Controls and check the Enable Foot Control checkbox. Please see the following pages for more information about Dictation Buddy and Transcription Buddy.
